Em evento realizado neste sábado no país da Copa, Orlando Silva, Ministro dos Esportes, mostrou o pessimismo do Governo Federal em relação ao estádio sediar a abertura da competição.

- Hoje é o último dia para que o São Paulo apresente as garantias financeiras. A maior cidade do país precisa ter um papel de protagonista na Copa. Mas eu e o presidente Ricardo Teixeira (da CBF) estamos bastante preocupados - afirmou.

A diretoria do Tricolor ainda não conseguiu as garantias financeiras. Orlando Silva garantiu que o Governo não investirá dinheiro público no estádio e de que o problema é do São Paulo:

- Quem precisa responder por isso é o presidente (são-paulino) Juvenal Juvêncio. O governo federal se concentra com estrutura, aeroportos, mobilidade e segurança. Estádio é local. Foi o comitê paulista que escolheu o Morumbi. Então são a prefeitura e o governo do estado que precisam viabilizar isso. O tesouro nacional não vai colocar um centavo em reforma ou construção de estádio. O financiamento do BNDES pressupõe garantias e estabelece regras, mas pelo que conversamos até agora não tenho confiança de que o São Paulo vá cumprir esses requisitos.

A FIFA aprovou o último projeto do Morumbi para a Copa de 2014. Porém, a diretoria do São Paulo já adiantou que não terá como bancar as reformas que girariam em torno de R$ 630 milhões. Assim, a intenção do clube é de fazer mudanças mais modestas e aguardar que a FIFA diminua suas exigências em relação ao jogo de abertura.

- A FIFA que escolheu as 12 cidades que serão sede. E vai receber a abertura aquela que cumprir os critérios exigidos. Esse é o desafio de São Paulo, mas até agora não conseguiu. Moro na cidade, sou paulista de adoção, mas não tenho nenhuma responsabilidade sobre isso. Ainda considero o Morumbi como o estádio paulista da Copa. Falta viabilizar - finalizou o Ministro.
