SÃO PAULO - O presidente da Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), Ricardo Teixeira, o prefeito Gilberto Kassab e o governador de São Paulo, Alberto Goldman, garantiram nesta segunda-feira, 08 de Novembro de 2010 que o estádio para a abertura da Copa do Mundo de 2014 será o que o Corinthians construirá em Itaquera.
Durante o evento que marcou a entrega do projeto do novo estádio para 60 mil pessoas pelo comitê de São Paulo ao comitê organizador local, Teixeira disse, porém, que ainda vai conversar com os arquitetos para pedir as mudanças do projeto e pedirá garantias financeiras ao Corinthians, como foi feito com todas as outras sedes.
O estádio do Corinthians foi inicialmente projetado para ter 48 mil pessoas ao custo de R$ 350 milhões. Com essa capacidade, ele não poderia receber a abertura e nem a final do Mundial, que exige uma capacidade de pelo menos 60 mil pessoas. Caso seja ampliado, porém, o custo daria um salto de cerca de R$ 200 milhões, fazendo com que o estádio seja construído com algo em torno de R$ 550 milhões.
Teixeira disse que será analisada a necessidade de alguma mudança estrutural no projeto e conversar com os arquitetos. Se for possível a mudança, será pedida ao Corinthians as garantias financeiras.

Essas garantias financeiras é que ainda não ficaram claras. A CBF já afirmou que não vai investir em estádios. O mesmo disse o governador do estado.
- O governo pode investir em infra-estrutura na área de Itaquera, que realmente precisa de investimento, inclusive no metrô. Até a porta do estádio faremos o possível, mas não vamos investir dinheiro na construção do estádio - afirmou Goldman, que garantiu que o governo iria se empenhar para dar rapidamente as licenças ambientais para a obra.
Goldman disse ainda que a engenharia financeira para garantir a construção do estádio estaria bem adiantada.
No fim de semana, o presidente do clube, Andrés Sanchez, afirmou em coletiva que o Corinthians não iria bancar a diferença de R$ 200 milhões na obra, mas que entre 15 e 20 dias teria a resposta de como iria ser finalizada essa engenharia financeira.
Perguntado se havia visto alguma coisa do projeto, Ricardo Teixeira simplesmente deixou a sala e foi embora. Em seguida, o assessor de imprensa da CBF, Rodrigo Paiva, afirmou que eles não viram ainda, mas que o estádio do Corinthians teria o mesmo tratamento dos outros estádios.
Já o prefeito de São Paulo parabenizou o Corinthians:
- Parabéns ao Corinthians que vai ganhar sua arena multiuso e ajudar a desenvolver a área da zona leste de São Paulo.

Infelizmente aqui no nosso País as coisas andam a passos de tartaruga, além da nossa famosa má vontade política, temos a “burocracia”, que poderíamos assim chamar, “moneygracias”, pois é, tudo tem motivos e até parece que não sabemos quais são.
Finalmente o mundo saberá onde a Copa começa; São Paulo, e onde terminará; Rio de Janeiro, já posso falar que lá estarei tomando chope bem gelado com camarão ao alho e oleo no Bar Garota de Ipanema no Leblon e todos serão muito bem vindos, saudações.
