The company said turnover increased to £313 million thanks largely to television revenue and ticket sales reflecting the team reaching both the semi-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup during the 2008-09 seasons. Matchday revenue contributed £100 million and the sale of 208 private apartments at Highbury Square £88 million.
“The group's profits have now risen in each of the three years in which Emirates Stadium has been our home,” said Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood. “This is excellent news, although I should perhaps stress that making and reporting profits is not in itself the primary objective for the directors.”
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis added: “Football is a hugely competitive and fast moving business and we must ensure that Arsenal is not just keeping pace but setting the pace, both on and off the field. The club is superbly positioned for the future and I am tremendously excited about the opportunities we have ahead of us.”
The encouraging financial results come despite Arsenal having spent four seasons without winning a major title.

“O lucro do grupo agora aumentou em cada um dos 3 anos em que o Estádio Emirates veio a ser nossa casa”, falou o presidente do Arsenal, Peter Hill-Wood. “Esta é uma excelente noticia, mesmo que esta não seja talvez uma noticia de lucros estressante e não é com certeza o objetivo primário dos diretores”.
O chefe executivo Ivan Gazadis completa: “Futebol é um grande e movimentado negócio e nós temos que confirmar que o Arsenal não somente esteja em paz como esteja sedimentando a paz, os dois, dentro e fora do campo. O clube está posicionado muitíssimo bem para o futuro e estou tremendamente excitado sobre esta possibilidade que se apresenta à frente de nós.”
Este encorajador resultado nas finanças veio apesar de que o Arsenal não ganhou nenhum título nestes últimos 4 anos.
Vejam que belo resultado do Clube Inglês Arsenal, que mesmo não tendo ganho nenhum título nos últimos 4 anos, não deixou em nenhum momento de auferir lucros. Nunca descuidou de seus negócios dentro e fora do campo.
É um grande exemplo para que os clubes brasileiros possam copiar.
