Há um ano Edu Matos está em silêncio e a família convive com a dor e a burocracia para receber a aposentadoria.
Há um ano, Edu Matos vive em estado vegetativo no pequeno município de Maruim, no interior sergipano. Em uma casa simples, divide o espaço com os pais e com um irmão, cercado de necessidades especiais.
Dia e noite em uma cama, quase sempre trocando a noite pelo dia. O ex-zagueiro do Araripina precisa ser monitorado 24 horas por dia. Sem coordenação motora alguma, a sua alimentação e necessidades fisiológicas são realizadas através de sondas.
A sua mãe, dona Acácia, se dedica em tempo integral ao filho, num esforço para manter o mínimo de dignidade ao jovem que até bem pouco tempo atrás era um atleta profissional na elite do futebol pernambucano. Ela segue sem perder a fé em Deus, mesmo desencorajada pela medicina.
O choro da aposentada, contido, acontece somente fora do quarto, longe do filho, que sequer consegue interpretar a expressão de sua mãe. E que assim deverá permanecer pelo resto da vida.
Passado um ano, Edu segue sem receber qualquer benefício financeiro, apesar da invalidez comprovada. Para piorar a situação, a demora na burocracia para documentar o ex-atleta no Instituto Nacional de Seguro Social (INSS) ainda resultou num enquadramento equivocado da aposentadoria.
Essa fase inesperada na vida de Edu Matos começou na noite do dia 27 de janeiro de 2010, em Caruaru, em pleno gramado do estádio Lacerdão, no jogo Porto x Araripina, válido pelo Estadual. Titular na zaga do Bode, ele sofreu uma parada cardíaca.
Jogo paralisado, ambulância em campo. Ele foi removido às pressas para uma emergência na cidade. Nas 24 horas seguintes, o coração do zagueiro ainda pararia outras seis vezes. Apesar de ter recebido alta do Pronto Socorro Cardiológico de Pernambuco (Procape), para onde foi levado em seguida, o jogador ficou em estado vegetativo.
Atualmente, a rotina de Edu Matos só é quebrada durante as sessões de fisioterapia para impedir que os seus músculos atrofiem. São cinco consultas, duas via saúde pública e mais três particulares, ao custo de R$ 30 cada uma. O gasto mensal com a saúde de Edu Matos, aliás, é quase R$ 3 mil, bem acima de toda a renda da família. A caridade de amigos na cidadezinha de 16 mil moradores completa o orçamento (incluindo uma ajuda da prefeitura).
Até a alimentação é especial, em forma líquida, produzida em um laboratório de manipulação na capital Aracaju. ´Bate uma revolta com tudo isso na vida de Edu. A minha mãe ainda chora muito.
Mas mãe é mãe e tem dia em que ela acorda animada só porque ele está vivo`, afirma o irmão do jogador, Carlos Eduardo, que vem produzindo um dossiê sobre a situação do jogador. ´A gente até estranhou a frieza e o cinismo quando os diretores do Araripina falaram em uma emissora de TV que estava tudo bem, com o pagamento em dia.
Não está. O Edu está com muitas dificuldades, completa o irmão.
Segundo ele, a saúde do ex-jogador só foi estabilizada há dois meses. Porém, a sua
cama ainda é improvisada. O par de chuteiras acredite, ainda fica no quarto.
"Vamos entrar na Justiça. Não tem como ficar do jeito que está. É uma situação delicada, que machuca toda a família` Carlos Eduardo, irmão de Edu Matos.
Há bem pouco tempo escrevi aqui mesmo que os clubes do interior e até da capital não realizam os exames médicos necessários, provavelmente, baseado na experiência que tive quando estive na direção do futebol profissional do Sete de Setembro. Veja a situação do ex-atleta, a do clube, a do INNS e até a do Sindicato dos Jogadores e até do próprio Ministério Público que deveria esta monitorando esta situação desesperadora.
O nosso futebol de profissional só tem mesmo o mau cheiro.
