O adeus de um ídolo. Assim, de uma hora para
outra e sem muito estardalhaço, Juninho Pernambucano encerrou sua carreira como
jogador profissional de futebol. Na véspera de completar 39 anos, o Reizinho da
Colina chamou a diretoria do Vasco e comunicou a decisão.
O motivo é simples:
ele tem sofrido muito para conseguir entrar em forma e voltar a entrar em campo
para jogar em alto nível. O presidente do Vasco, Roberto Dinamite, confirmou a
informação logo após a vitória do time sobre o Audax, em Volta Redonda.
"Quero tornar oficial a decisão do
Juninho. Durante a semana já tínhamos conversado e ele decidiu encerrar a
carreira. Na segunda-feira ele vai estar fazendo com vocês a despedida como
atleta do Vasco", disse Dinamite.
A decisão havia sido tomada ano passado, após
a grave lesão na coxa direita sofrida em novembro que o tirou de combate na
reta final do Brasileiro. No entanto, com a chegada de Rodrigo Caetano, Juninho
ouviu o pedido para que tentasse ao menos ajudar no Carioca e voltou atrás
revendo a ideia da aposentadoria. Mas a rotina aliada a uma evolução lenta o
fez desistir.
Juninho chegou ao Vasco em 1995 e ficou até
2001 nesta que foi sua primeira passagem pelo clube. Ele se tornou ídolo da
torcida com gols, passes e muitos títulos. Conquistou os Brasileiros de 1997 e
2000, o Carioca de 1998, o Rio-São Paulo de 1999, a Mercosul de 2000 e a
Libertadores de 1998.
Foi na Libertadores, por sinal, que a
idolatria foi consolidada. Na semifinal, diante do River Plate, marcou em
cobrança de falta impecável o gol que eliminou o clube argentino da competição
e colocou o Vasco na final. Posteriormente o título seria conquistado diante do
Barcelona de Guayaquil. Em 2011, retornou ao clube, foi decisivo na campanha do
vice-campeonato Brasileiro e saiu no fim do ano para o New York Red Bulls, onde
ficou apenas sete meses. Ano passado voltou, mas sofreu a lesão que o faria
encerrar a carreira.
Além do Vasco, Juninho não passou por muitos
clubes. Foi revelado pelo Sport, onde conquistou o Pernambucano e a Copa do
Nordeste de 1994. Após a primeira saída do Vasco, foi para o Lyon onde também
se tornou ídolo. Conquistou o campeonato francês sete vezes consecutivas -
entre 2002 e 2008 -, além de ser tricampeão da Supercopa da França e da Copa da
França em 2008. De lá foi para o Al-Gharafa, onde ficou por três anos.
Pela Seleção Brasileira, foram 43 jogos e
sete gols. Conquistou a Copa das Confederações de 2005, mas conviveu com a
frustração de não ter sido convocado para a Copa do Mundo de 2002. O sonho de
disputar a maior competição de seleções veio em 2006, mas a eliminação para a
França foi um baque tão grande que ele decidiu que não vestiria mais a camisa
amarela.
No meu entender, mais um Nordestino que foi
duramente castigado por sua origem, é uma pena que raramente temos jogadores desta
região nas hostes da Seleção Brasileira. Tem gente ate que fala que isto é
utopia, mas, aqui para nós, utopia é sim, deixar os grandes valores de nossa região
sem a devida oportunidade por discriminação e bairrismo.
É uma pena que Juninho não se lembrou de
Pernambuco para se despedir, pois foi aqui que começou seu reinado.
