O árbitro Cláudio Mercante foi ameaçado de morte por meio da internet, telefone, e até pessoalmente, por sua atuação no jogo de ida da final do Campeonato Pernambucano entre Sport e Santa Cruz na Ilha do Retiro. Ele é contestado pela torcida do Sport por não ter expulsado o zagueiro Thiago Matias, do Santa Cruz, após falta dura em Bruno Mineiro.

Junto à Federação Pernambucana de Futebol, ele vai dar entrada na Secretaria de Defesa Social (SDS) com um pedido de garantia de vida. Nesta quinta-feira, o diretor jurídico e vice-presidente da FPF, Evandro Barros Carvalho, vai com o árbitro até a entidade.

"Estou me sentindo muito mal. Dentro de campo sou um árbitro, mas fora dele um cidadão comum, que trabalha e tem família. É muito ruim ter medo de sair na rua", lamentou Mercante ao Jornal do Commercio.

A diretoria rubro-negra havia pedido um árbitro de fora do estado para apitar a final, mas só será atendida na segunda partida: o paulista Sálvio Spinola Fagundes Filho está escalado. O Santa Cruz venceu o primeiro jogo por 2 a 0, na Ilha do Retiro.

Não poderia ser de outro modo, violência atrai violência. Estamos vendo e falando há muito tempo sobre isto que acontece em nosso futebol e já é natural conviver com esta crescente violência, precise resolver algo na FPF para saber o que estou falando, um murro na mesa e pronto está resolvido.

A Justiça tirou as bandeiras que coloriam os espetáculos, os instrumentos musicais que embalavam os hinos e falam que a situação mudou, porque as torcidas organizadas continuam fazendo o mesmo de sempre. Ao invés de termos uma legislação atual e firme, que puna quem realmente é delinqüente, quem se aproveita dos jogos para roubar, e praticar violência.

Mais aqui tudo é o contrário, se proibiu tomar álcool dentro dos estádios, mas na frente do estádio tem a vontade, sem licença sem higiene e todos bebem e agora esperam até o último instante para entrar no estádio, pergunto o que mudou? Mudou apenas para quem paga imposto, paga pela licença, mudou para o clube que tinha rendimento sobre o movimento dos bares.
