Com o Campeonato Brasileiro sendo disputado por pontos corridos há 13 anos, alguns clubes se movimentam pela volta do mata-mata, que será discutida em congresso da CBF, em janeiro de 2016. Grêmio e Vasco são os principais interessados na mudança, mas, pela história, o grande favorecido seria o Corinthians, seguido pelos tricolores gaúcho e paulista.
O retorno da fórmula, porém, pode significar uma alternância maior entre os campeões. Desde 2003, a Série A teve apenas seis equipes levantando a taça - Cruzeiro, Santos, Corinthians, São Paulo, Flamengo e Fluminense. Além disso, somente membros do extinto "Clube dos 13". A última vez que o vencedor não pertencia aos principais centros, foi o Atlético-PR, em 2001.
O ESPN.com.br comparou as disputas em playoffs dos 12 clubes com mais participações no Brasileiro, desde 1971. Não à toa, são justamente os 12 grandes: quatro do Rio, quatro de São Paulo, dois de Minas e os dois gaúchos. Veja na tabela abaixo:
OBS: Não são os números de vitórias em jogos, mas sim em eliminações. O Nacional já passou por fórmulas que contaram também com quadrangulares e triangulares finais, e mesmo os mata-matas que se definiram em um, dois e até três jogos. Só foram levados em consideração, os mata-matas.
Nos duelos com eliminação direta na Série A, o Corinthians é o que leva vantagem. Foram 18 triunfos no total. Em segundo lugar aparece o Grêmio, com 16, e em terceiro o São Paulo, com 15.
Se forem considerados apenas os confrontos entre os principais clubes brasileiros, a vantagem do time de Parque São Jorge é ainda maior, com 13 vitórias. Nesse caso, o Internacional passaria a ser o 2º do "ranking", com dez eliminações entre os grandes.
Dentro do estado paulista, porém, os corinthianos têm duas vitórias sobre o São Paulo, mas saíram derrotados na única vez em que enfrentaram o Palmeiras, na final do Brasileiro de 1994. Os alviverdes somam ainda um triunfo sobre a equipe do Morumbi.
O maior freguês de todos pertence ao Corinthians: o Atlético Mineiro contabiliza quatro derrotas em playoffs para os paulistas, em 1990, 1994, na final de 1999 e em 2002.
Ao menos, os atleticanos podem comemorar a soberania dentro de Minas Gerais. Foram apenas dois encontros com o Cruzeiro em mata-mata no Brasileiro, e duas vitórias. Em 1986 e 1999, os rivais duelaram nas quartas de final, ambas às vezes com derrota celeste.
No Rio de Janeiro, as coisas são mais equilibradas. Enquanto o Botafogo tem apenas uma vitória diante do Flamengo, e o Vasco sobre o Flu, os tricolores eliminaram duas vezes os cruzmaltinos, enquanto o time da Gávea passou uma vez pelo alvinegro e outra pelo "Gigante da Colina".
Não resta a menor dúvida de que estes números dizem alguma coisa, mas, digo que não mostram o que rola por baixo da mesa, se pode mudar um resultado apenas por um apito, então tirem suas conclusões. Este sistema de pontos corridos pode até tirar um pouco da beleza de termos uma decisão na final, mas, contribui enormemente para a "lisura", transparência e decência do futebol, vence quem é e foi o melhor todo o tempo (por exemplo, agora mesmo o melhor é o time Pernambucano, Sport Recife, só perdeu uma partida e está a mais tempo entre os quatro melhores), sabemos que tem que vencer mais, ao invés de jogar todo o tempo com a bunda na parede, para garantir o empate, sem acreditar em sí mesmo, (mas, isso tem como mudar).

There is not the slightest doubt that these numbers say something, but I say that not show that rolls under the table, you can change a result only with a whistle, then you can draw their conclusions. This system of consecutive points can even take some of the beauty of having a decision in the final, but greatly contributes to the "smoothness", transparency and decency of our football, wins who is and was the best all the time (for example, now even better is the Pernambucano team Sport Recife, just lost a match and is longer in the top four), we know that has to win more, rather than playing all the time with the butt on the wall, to ensure the tie without believing in yourself, (but this is changing).
