ALDO REBELO FAZ APELO PARA TER MAIS VOLUNTÁRIOS NA COPA / ALDO REBELO MAKES PLEA TO HAVE MORE VOLUNTEERS IN THE WORLD CUP

The Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo, took the 12th Forum of Commandatuba, a leading business events in the country, held on the southern coast of Bahia, to ask 320 business owners and executives participants to provide volunteers for the World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Olympic Games.

"We want to have 1 million volunteers only in the World Cup," said the minister. "If every company can mobilize its staff and employees for at least one hour of volunteering on Saturday, Sunday or on game day, it will be an important contribution."

The federal government has already made a preliminary selection of about seven thousand volunteers for the Confederations Cup, a competition which will take place from 15th to 30th June. And in the second half will open registration for those who want to work in the World Cup 2014. Meanwhile, FIFA also has its own program volunteer for both events.

For Aldo Rebelo, the intention, to have many employees in 12 cities of Brazil, which will host the World Cup matches in 2014, is to improve the image of the country "will be 600,000 foreign visitors and 3 million of Brazilians circulating at the Cup," said the Minister. "We do not want these people to be respected and only tolerated but welcomed with affection, with smile, because it will be very important to them. Perhaps the most grateful remembrance that visitors keep at these events."

At the event, Aldo Rebelo also again defended changes in competition calendar of Brazilian football - a theme that has caused friction between him and the president of the CBF, Jose Maria Marin - and criticized the lack of professionalism of clubs and federations of the country.

"We are a country that participated in all World Cups, which won the World Cup five times, which has the most established players in history, but we have only 2% of GDP in world football, while English has more than 30% and the Germans, 23%, "said the minister. "Our clubs have lost their international exposure and we need to take the World Cup to change this situation."

Aldo Rebelo, however, denied that the ministry wants to intervene in the administration of CBF, such as accusing Marin, but warned that football is a matter of "national interest." "The CBF is a private entity and the government has no intention to intervene, but football also needs to be addressed as a matter of public interest," he explained.

Finally we're waking up, the Brazilian football is not a private company and should not be held hostage to a group of people. We need to change this way of thinking that only a handful of peoples know what is best for Brazilian football is more than time to make a makeover and change old ideas and old ways of managing an industry as profitable as football are and this should be now, at the most important events on the planet, Confederations Cup and WC, otherwise we will see the horse go sealed again and lose a World Cup at home.
