BRASIL SERÁ O 1º PAÍS A TER UMA COPA SUSTENTAVEL / BRAZIL WILL BE THE 1ST COUNTRY TO HAVE A SUSTAINABLE CUP

Anyone who watched last month to the first game of the Confederations Cup, the Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia, may not know, but that was standing in the construction, by 2014, will be among the most sustainable in the world. The arena is part of the project Copa Green, who works in the construction of environmentally friendly spaces for the World Cup. Thanks to this initiative, the country will be the first to receive the event with all sustainable stadiums, Brazil under the GBC, an NGO active in the sector.

Having an international certificate of sustainability was one of the requirements to host, as contained in document Brazil Sustainable Socioeconomic Impacts of the 2014 World Cup, produced by Ernest Young Group in partnership with the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). And the Mane Garrincha was seeking primary certification measures the environmental performance of buildings: a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, in translation).

To achieve this feat, the stadium needs to be evaluated on issues such as choice of sustainable spaces, water conservation, energy efficiency, use of materials technology reuse, indoor environmental quality and innovation and technology. According to their performance, can be certified silver, gold or platinum. Experts now believe that the arena of Brasilia is a strong candidate for the title most. "It is the only stadium that can receive the seal platinum," says technical director of GBC Brazil, Marcos Married.

According to the latest report of the Court of the Federal District, the stadium should cost R $ 1.77 billion. It is the most expensive of arenas in Brazil. Coauthor Project Green Cup, Ian McKee explains that even if the expense is high, it is necessary to take into account that the Mane Garrincha is a work totally new and designed for the future.

"According to our calculations, for example, will pay the investment of solar power plant in nine years, and the system have a 25 year warranty. Namely, will be 16 years of free energy," he explains.

The work of the stadium prioritizes natural ventilation with broad coverage that creates shade of up to 6 degrees less. The building will also feature the largest solar power plant in Brazil: a ring of concrete panels on the roof of the stadium will generate about 2 megawatts of power.

I am thinking about this for some time already, is that we are opening the company SunLight in Recife and Garanhuns (initially), and should represent several multinational companies in the Northeast of our country with products to enhance our region in clean energy production with the most abundant source that we have here, which is the sun. We will soon be ready to sell and install these panels photo photovoltaic with 25 year warranty (see video https://www.dropbox.com/sh/09thv6vmmxgvagz/UIWI1g5YIK#/), to construction builders and individuals, as well as other products powered by solar energy.

MINEIRÃO É O PRIMEIRO ESTÁDIO BRASILEIRO A INAUGURAR UMA USINA SOLAR / MINEIRÃO IS THE FIRST ARENA TO INAUGURATE A SOLAR PLANT IN BRAZIL

Installed capacity of 1.42 MWp will be able to serve about 900 homes.

The Mineirão Arena is the first stadium of the World Cup 2014 to have a solar plant. On Friday, the Government of Minas and Energy Company of Minas Gerais, CEMIG, promoted the ceremony of Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant (USF) stadium. The project was financed with funds from the 80% Development Bank of Germany. The event is part of celebrations of the Year of Germany in Brazil.

The plant has an installed capacity of 1.42 MWp, with about 6,000 photovoltaic modules, and the electricity generated will be injected into the distribution network of CEMIG. With this power, the USF will be able to meet approximately 900 residences midrange.

Since the implementation of the Mineirinho (indoor Arena), small arena at the side to receive others games, such, volleyball, basketball, and others, who has a power of 1.1 MWp, is in the process of drafting a notice.

The electricity will be injected into the network of CEMIG through the substation feeding the Mineirinho, located inside of the stadium. All the energy produced will be fed into the grid, while 10% will return to Minas Arena and will be used within the Gigante da Pampulha.
"In a country like ours, with culture and football cheerful and catchy, it was natural that the major sports arenas are rigged with solar power plants, as we are doing in the legume" said the president of CEMIG, Djalma Bastos de Morais before complete: "We intend to extend this project to other stadiums and gyms in the state."
"The small arena (indoor) should be operating commercially in the Confederations Cup in June this year, an event that precedes the World Cup 2014," said the engineer Alexandre Heringer Lisboa.

The initiative to set up a central generating energy from the sun's rays in the Mineirão (big Arena) and the Mineirinho (small Arena, indoor) was inspired by the stages of Freiburg, the German city, and the solar stadiums built for Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
"Another building that can receive a photovoltaic solar power plant is the Confins International Airport, the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte," Heringer said.

In the Mineirão, the plant began to be assembled in December of last year, with the preparation and waterproofing of the roof for the installation of metal support of photovoltaics. The plant will help the stadium and should be recognized as a sustainable building, obtaining the certification of Green Building.

The president of Minas Arena, Ricardo Barra, highlighted the pioneering solar plant in the Mineirão, which is installed in the first stage of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. "The inauguration of the plant is very proud, because it is the result of hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the installation," he said.

Ready since December last year, the Mineirão Arena receive Tahiti-Nigeria, June 17, Japan-Mexico, March 22, and a semifinal of the Confederations Cup on 26 June this year. Already in the 2014 World Cup, the stadium will host six matches mining, including a quarter-final and one semifinal.

It's about time someone waking up in relation to the potential that our country has. When I was in Freiburg, I could see all that we were leaving at the side, because in German motorways, the partitions are almost all made in photovoltaic screens that follow the sun's movement and capture the light, turning it into energy.

And our country has a region that has no clouds blocking the sun light for years, why not take advantage and take a little longer investment with this income, to lower the cost of operation of the Arena.

ESTÁDIOS DA COPA DE 2014 TERÃO ENERGIA SOLAR RENOVÁVEL / STADIUNS OF THE 2014 WORLD CUP WILL HAVE SOLAR ENERGY

Public opinion polls commissioned by FIFA, reveal that 90% of Brazilians consider it essential that the 2014 World Cup is ecologically correct. And she will. Incidentally, the first in history. If in the World Cup in South Africa there ware no time to build stadiums environmentally responsible - the concept of sustainability was not as widespread as it is today - at the World Cup in Brazil all 12 host stadiums will use renewable energy sources.

The researcher Ricardo Ruther, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, author (in partnership with the Ideal), Stadiums Solar project, says that the process of transformation of sunlight into electricity is relatively straightforward. "Solar technology produces electricity directly from electrons freed by the interaction of sunlight with certain semiconductors in photovoltaic panel" claim Ruther. To develop the project, the researcher visited the Mage Solar Stadium (belonging to SC Freiburg, German club from the city of Freiburg in Breisgau), the first stadium in the world with solar power plant generation, introduced in 1995.

The Mage Solar was the basis for the design of the first stage of Latin America equipped with solar power, Pituaçu in Salvador. Under the supervision of the Electricity Company of Bahia (COELBA), the stadium Pituaçu, which belongs to the Government of Bahia, has the capacity to generate 630MWh year, 75% more than the total spent by the stadium in a year - the difference go to the network of COELBA.

Should follow a similar path the Arena Pernambuco, in Recife City, which will be ready in 2013, and will feature a solar power plant capable of generating production of 1,450 MWh / year, equivalent energy consumption of 1,200 households. The energy produced by the plant, located in an area contiguous to the Pernambuco Arena, the stadium will be used by photovoltaic panels that will capture the light emitted by the sun.

The two main stages of the 2014 World Cup - the Itaquerão where will be held the opening, and Maracana, the final - will also be self sustainable. The Corinthians, owner of Itaquerão, the Group entered into partnership with AES Eletropaulo, AES Tietê and Odebrecht Energia for the installation of photo-voltaic panels on the stadium. Have administrators Maracana, owned by the State Government of Rio, signed an agreement with Yingli Solar, Light and EDF ESCO Consulting Projects Generating Electricity to the stadium, venue for the final of World Cup 1950 , in reference renewable energy.
