The honorary president of FIFA, Joao Havelange, is hospitalized in serious condition at Samaritan Hospital in Rio In a statement, the hospital announced yesterday that the former leader of 95 years had the infection and has been treated based on antibiotics in the hospital's coronary care unit. The next report on the health status of Havelange will be released this morning and, according to doctors, there is no prospect of high, which demonstrates that the situation worries Joao Havelange. He is hospitalized since last Sunday.

In May 2010, the former leader was admitted to the same Samaritan Hospital with an infection in the face. In December last year, Havelange resigned from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which was the oldest member. He went on to be investigated by the Ethics Committee of the IOC, after allegations of corruption made by the BBC in London, who accused the existence of fraud in the ISL, sports marketing company working with FIFA. In his letter of resignation, claimed health reasons.

Jean-Marie Faustin Goedefroid Havelange's chaired the CBD between 1956 and 1974, a period in which Brazil won its first three world titles. In 1974 he was elected president of FIFA, where he remained in office for 24 years and only came out in 1998 and became honorary president of the entity.

It is with regret that I have this news, because the former president Joao Havelange was one of our icons of Brazilian sport. But nobody is eternal, people may even perpetuate the power of something, as he and others have done here on earth, but when the call arrives, has no interest in rank or importance of this person, they just goes and everything else is "just dust in the wind," like says Bob Dylan as well.
