No ano passado, Gilberto, cria do Santa Cruz, foi emprestado ao Vera Cruz, de Vitória de Santo Antão, por não ser considerado à altura do elenco coral que disputaria a Série D. Há cinco meses, o mesmo atacante vivia uma realidade bem distinta: Dividia o gramado com Alexandre Pato, Robinho, Seedorf e Ibrahimovic, quando defendeu as cores do Internacional na vitória sobre o Milan na moderníssima Allianz Arena, em Munique, na Alemanha. Reviravolta tão fulminante quanto os gols marcados pelo atacante e que ajudaram a tirar o Santa Cruz do estado de inércia que já duravam cinco temporadas. Herói do título estadual, o jogador viu sua vida se transformar num intervalo curtíssimo e agora mira um futuro que projetou em sonhos.
A promessa.
Natural da pequena cidade de Piranhas, município de pouco mais de 20 mil habitantes na margem alagoana do rio São Francisco, Gilberto chegou ao Recife em 2008. Na mala, um par de chuteiras e o sonho que alimenta - e na esmagadora maioria das vezes ilude - milhões de jovens ao redor do mundo. Com um desempenho arrasador, o atacante terminou o Pernambucano de juniores do ano seguinte com impressionantes 23 gols e foi imediatamente integrado ao elenco profissional. Tratado como promessa, o atacante atuou em cinco das seis partidas disputadas pelo Santa Cruz na Série D.
Os tricolores viviam a pior fase da história do clube e o acesso era encarado como uma obrigação. A pressão e as próprias deficiências mostraram ser adversários mais duros que as demais equipes. Com três derrotas, dois empates e somente uma vitória, o Santa Cruz sequer passou da primeira fase da competição. O fiasco resultou numa profunda reformulação do elenco para o ano seguinte. Cenário bem diferente do imaginado por Gilberto para a sua primeira competição como profissional. “Foi muito difícil. Quando subi para o elenco principal e vi que tinha chances de jogar, só pensava na torcida comemorando meus gols e na volta para a Série C”, lembra o atacante, que sofreria uma queda ainda maior em pouco tempo.
O empréstimo.
A tarefa de montar um novo grupo foi atribuída ao goiano Raimundo Queiroz. O ex-presidente do Goiás se gabava de ter um bom olho para descobrir talentos e chegou prometendo valorizar a prata-da-casa para montar um time competitivo e guerreiro. A prática, entretanto, foi bem diferente. Uma das primeiras decisões do dirigente foi emprestar Gilberto ao Vera Cruz, por não achar que o jovem atacante estava à altura do restante do elenco, que contava com atletas como André Leonel, Souza, Thomas Anderson e Val Barreto para o setor.
Em Vitória de Santo Antão, Gilberto encarou o desafio de mostrar suas virtudes num time que terminou o Pernambucano rebaixado à Série A2. Apesar das péssimas apresentações da equipe, o atacante conseguiu marcar nove gols. De todo o elenco do Santa Cruz, somente Joélson, com 12 gols, marcou mais que Gilberto. Argumento suficiente para uma nova oportunidade no Arruda. Na Série D daquele ano, Gilberto disputou quatro partidas, uma delas como titular. Mas aquele Brasileiro adicionaria um novo fracasso na história do clube. “Essas coisas marcam muito. Principalmente para os jogadores da base, que têm uma forte identificação com o clube. Dá vergonha até de sair na rua”, lembra Gilberto.
Decolando.
A expectativa para 2011 não era muito melhor. Como acontecera nos anos anteriores, o Santa Cruz passou por uma profunda reformulação no elenco. Quando o técnico Zé Teodoro assumiu o comando técnico, a equipe contava somente com cinco jogadores. Todos formados na base do clube. Entre eles, Gilberto. Surpreendentemente, depois de uma maratona de viagens e negociações, o treinador conseguiu montar uma equipe competitiva, tendo na aplicação tática a sua principal virtude. A estratégia era simples: uma marcação forte e contra-ataques velozes.
Não havia, porém, muito espaço para Gilberto. Com Laércio, Landu e Thiago Cunha brigando pelas duas vagas no ataque, o prata-da-casa tentava mostrar serviço durante os treinamentos. A oportunidade veio somente na 10ª rodada, no confronto com o Central. Num choque com o goleiro Sérvulo, Cunha sofreu uma ruptura parcial no ligamento colateral medial do joelho direito. Como Laércio não vivia uma boa fase, Zé Teodoro formou o ataque titular do jogo contra o Cabense com Landu e Gilberto. Apesar do empate por 2 a 2, o jovem atacante teve uma boa atuação, marcando um dos gols corais.
A virada.
O gol marcado contra a Cabense foi somente o primeiro, dos 12 marcados por Gilberto no Estadual. Mais do que o número em si, a importância dos gols transformaram o atacante em um dos heróis da torcida. Justo ele, que até então ouvira somente vaias e xingamentos das arquibancadas. Os mais relevantes, marcados contra o Sport, garantiram ao Santa Cruz um dos títulos mais importantes de sua história quase centenária. Disputando a quarta divisão nacional, os tricolores desbancaram Náutico e Sport, que brigavam para voltar à elite do Brasileiro.
Por conta de seus desempenhos, Gilberto chamou a atenção dos principais clubes do país. Entre eles Corinthians e Internacional. O primeiro ofereceu R$ 1 milhão por seus direitos federativos e chegou a anunciar sua contratação. Numa reviravolta, os colorados dobraram a oferta e levaram o artilheiro para o Beira Rio. “Acho que é uma prova de que nunca podemos desistir de nossos sonhos”, avisa Gilberto. “Numa hora eu era só mais um do elenco do Santa Cruz. Na outra estava jogando contra caras que eu só tinha visto no videogame”, acrescenta, numa referência à vitória sobre o Milan na Copa Audi, disputada em julho, na Alemanha.
Na reta final do último Brasileirão, Gilberto foi acionado em algumas partidas do Internacional, que conta com atacantes como Leandro Damião, Zé Roberto e Jô em seu elenco. “Sei que preciso continuar trabalhando forte em todos os treinamentos e aproveitar cada oportunidade para mostrar minhas qualidades. Aos poucos vou me firmando”, pontua. Como no Santa Cruz.
Com muito suor e lágrimas, força de vontade e trabalho duro e a ajuda dos céus, e de seu procurador, ele vai se firmando. Espero que o Internacional olhe melhor este jogador, ao invés de fazer como aqui em Pernambuco, que sem milagre nenhum jogador Pernambucano decola.
Um jogador que merece ser olhada imediatamente, já está no ponto, não tem mais que esperar. Tem que procurar um clube que lhe dê uma chance real, ficar esperando um ou outro jogo, não dá.
