Paul Breitner On What Needs To Change In American Youth Soccer -

Paul Breitner is a very famous German former pro soccer player.  Breitner was on the West Germany team that won the 1974 FIFA World Cup and scored a goal in the final. In the 1982 World Cup final, Breitner scored again and is one of the few players in the world — like Pele and Zinédine Zidane – who have scored in two World Cup finals.

Considered one of the top greatest living footballers. Breitner’s soccer career kicked off in 1970 at the age of 21 when he played for Bayern Munich, then left to join Real Madrid, only to returning in later to Bayern Munich. In total, he played in 255 matches for Bayern in the German “Bundesliga,” scoring 83 Goals. Breitner did not dream of becoming a world class soccer player but thought of playing soccer as a way to pay for his college tuition – and ended up winning seven National Championships with Bayern Munich (1972, 1973, 1974, 1980, 1981) and two with Real Madrid (1975, 1976).

A living soccer hero, Breitner is dedicated to giving back to the sport he loves dearly and to helping develop the next generation of World Cup players. As the brand ambassador for FCB, Breitner does his job by representing Bayern at national and international events and traveled to the USA for the 2015 NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia.

Diane Scavuzzo sat down to chat with Paul Breitner in Philly to discover his thoughts on the future of soccer. Here is the first part of a mulit-part series. Diane Scavuzzo:

If you were a player who had been developed in America, would you have gone on to be a professional player who scored in two World Cup finals?

Never, sad Paul.

Diane Scavuzzo: So you don’t believe you would have grown into the player you became if you had been developed in our current youth soccer world? Paul Breitner: No, I would have developed as the same as 100 (other) players in the US. You have the same types of players and everyone has to learn the same moves. Diane Scavuzzo:

You are one of the most successful soccer players in the world. Tell me, what is important for a soccer player to be successful? Paul Breitner: A soccer player has to do his job feeling free, and not being commanded and demanded – a soccer player cannot have every step and every move commanded. A soccer player needs to have the freedom to create ideas.

A soccer player must do his job playing 30, 40, or 60 minutes feeling free – and feeling free means being responsible for one position; the way he has to do defend and attack in his own way – with his own intuition. Diane Scavuzzo: What do you believe is wrong in American youth soccer? Paul Breitner:

The problem is that Americans think that soccer is a sport similar to football, baseball or basketball. Americans think soccer players are athletes – and, no way. A soccer player is a player and not an athlete. Soccer players are artists. Coaches in the USA have to realize that they are instructing, working with an artist and they are not working with robots.

American coaches are in command for over 90 minutes dictating every pass and every move. Diane Scavuzzo: Do you have to be smart to be a soccer player?

Paul Breitner: You do not have to have an IQ of 150 become a soccer player, but players need a coach who will respect them as an individuals. Diane Scavuzzo: How are youth soccer players developed in Germany? Paul Breitner: In Germany, every player is guided referring to his own possibilities, his own skills and is not treated the same way as the ten or fifteen guys on his team.

Our kids get the chance to start playing at 3 or 4 years old and these kids can play until they die. They will join their first team when they are at the age of 4 and be instructed step-by-step and discover all kinds of freedom, creativity and responsibility. Respect, partnership, fairness; we teach these values from the age of four. There is no better way than to learn everything for your life than Futbol. Diane Scavuzzo: If you were given a magic wand to change things – what would you do? Paul Breitner:

For the soccer of the future in America, it would be very positively to get European coaches as your partners. If you want to break out of a very closed soccer program, you should partner with a club with strong history of developing players. Note: Bayern had more players at the World Cup than any other club and seven players on the German squad who won the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Started in 1900,

FC Bayern is the most successful soccer club in Germany. Fans can check out the Bayern Munich online store or visit their Facebook page.

Well every one can take the sardines to his net... I do mine, I think that US  need to have coachs from Brazil also, To teach how is play soccer with finess, and its not only the reason that we have lost a game to Germany National Team, that we are not the number one country in the world who have won almost every class of World Cup (Youngs, feminine and mans), we get all tournaments, we only need a Olympic gold medal for the mans teams.

Now, Germany is the only solution for all countries who want appear at the world in the football/soccer matters and this is not true.  I have work and live in US and know the problems also, So, is complicated your nominee a way to developer properly the young soccer at this country.

My opinion, is a mix, not only Germany, but English, Brazilian, Spain, Italy, France, all top countrys have to contribute to see North Americans players to be suceed even because down at this country the miscegenation is large (like us in Brazil), they grand fathers and grand mothers have come from all over the world, so not more fair that have this.

PELÉ DEFINE COMO VERGONHA ATRASOS NAS OBRAS DA COPA E DIZ: “ALEMANHA É QUASE MAIS BRASILEIRA QUE NÓS” / PELÉ DEFINES IS A SHAME THE DELAYS IN THE WORKS TO THE CUP AND SAYS: “GERMANY IS ALMOST MORE BRAZILIANS THAN US”.

"A situação política é difícil. Mas a situação me preocupa. Tivemos tempo suficiente para terminar todas as etapas. A situação é inaceitável.

Temos um time forte.

The German newspaper Bild reported on this Monday an interview with Pelé in conversation, with fully focused on the World Cup issue, and the king of football again criticized the delays in the works for the World Cup and says understand the protests.

"The political situation is difficult. Yet our selection has nothing to do with the corruption that exists, with people who divert money. 's Construction of stadiums is delayed. But the situation worries me. We had enough time to finish all the steps in time. The situation is unacceptable. 's a shame, "he said.

The former player also assessed the team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari as very strong but lacking quality over the attack.

"I think that Brazil will take the Cup, we have a strong team we are very well in defense and midfield, but lacking - . . Taking Neymar - . A big name in the attack, that has not happened in the past."

The champion of the 1958 World Cups, 1962 and 1970 also, pointed Spain and Germany as the main competitors of Brazil in the title. "Spain has been practicing some excellent football. Germany is very organized and keeps for some time a style of aggressive play. 'd Say they almost play at the Brazilian way more than us," he said.

On late at the works, I am sure does anyone disagree with the King, I'm sure the answer is no, and about all the strong teams in the Cup, also, I believe that  we have more two or three  teams that will really give hard work time to Brazil. Also think that Brazil, playing seriously, and its Head Coach leave out the friendships and getting rid of these commitments with some athletes and placing in the field only the top players those days, the Brazilian team can to lift their sixth pitcher.

AS 100 MAIORES MÉDIAS DE PÚBLICO NO MUNDO. UM CLUBE DE RECIFE, SANTA CRUZ / THE 100 LARGEST AVERAGE AUDIENCE IN THE WORLD. SANTA CRUZ FC FROM RECIFE, PERNAMBUCO.

In Arruda, the highest average attendance in South America in 2011. There were 36,916 corals, Santa Cruz fans from Recife City, Pernambuco State.

The first data from the study on the presence in the stands had been released in June this year with the placings of Santa Cruz, Corinthians and Bahia (see here).
Now the research consultancy Pluri complete with 100 clubs who registered the highest average attendance last season.

The champion of Pernambuco, in 39th, is the first of three representatives of the country in the list, which counts only the paying public. More, It is the only planet that went without playing the first two national divisions. Passion cannot be measured.

Besides the absolute amount, there is another important since, with the percentage of occupancy. In the case of Bayern Munich, the staggering number of "100.1%".

I wonder about the memories of football and are not reviewed or even used to explain part of what happens today at this research and they are too important and that should probably change tomorrow. As I recall Germany before hosting the 2006 World Cup, had the same problems we have today in Brazil, low rate of public stadiums, and everything changed after they rebuilt their stadiums and arenas built new, and such which we hope will change also in Brazil, although there that they were professionals and here, it is still in its infancy.

We also see that Brazil needs to change structurally organization since even the simplest CBF at our country, many think that serving in Europe can or should be not applied here, and it is a terrible mistake, if does, is must take into account many nuances, especially as the level of education of the people and then begin designing football based on facts and places in each region, but without using facts do not lead anywhere. It may seem that I am confusing the balls when I say that we should expect to change after the World Cup then I will exemplify.

As one might expect that the Sport Recife, can lead to their stadium a crowd of 80,000 fans per game there is no one knows exactly how many fit today at this stadium of the Ilha do Retiro (because they need to try to cheat the taxman, because we pay a lot taxes to have such an event) and no institution, even though his administration has serious and competent people, cannot survive on the payment of fees, taxes at cascade like these that imposes itself here, then the federal government must begin to revise their concepts and their form to administer the country. Now the club are considering building an new arena for this club, but are already planning underneath this public, only to 45,000 when it should be for at least 65,000 fans, because this is a major undertaking, and looking and future club for 30 + years, and more so we're going backwards like crabs.

I've had the pleasure of watching games in the arena of Borussia Dortmund and Recife should not get anything behind, just the question "marketer" that yes, we are 100 years ago, there in Germany they sell the package for the full year and for companies, so tickets are sold directly in packages and not literally mean that the public is the one advertised.

But back to more important, we will have new arenas with modern and comfortable transport line, being built, finally, with a structure of first world, then we need to change the management structure of football and then we will certainly head in these studies I have no doubt, Brazil is not that what this reflects at this research, and if it is just by the item of our amateur administrations. We must change.

THE BRAZILIAN TEAM LOSE THE GAME AND PRESTIGE/A SELEÇÃO BRASILEIRA PERDE O JOGO E PERDE SEU PRESTIGIO.

We are seeing our football go down to the drain, a selection that calls friends, business calls on players, and now follows in the footsteps of our boys, the coach looks like a mannequin, combines the pants (dark blue), with lighter blue shirt and a navy blazer, sorry, I'm no designer and I'm just drawing a parameter with the decay and downfall of our football bad managed by the CBF. And now all know that Brazilian football has an owner and are definitely not the Brazilians.

While the German national team, is full of kids who will come to Brazil in 2014, indeed. Our selection continues using almost the same players who naturally will not be in 2014. And where is the famous "renewal" of Brazilian football? It is only a manner of speaking so that they drop the foot of what is now the owner of our football.

After so many years been building admiration, delight, entertainment, good football and above all, respect. Where is our sense of wrong and right thing? Where is our self esteem and how do we stay? Waiting for things to sink further, that the combinations of the clothes of former coach in Africa out number the combinations of current, because we see that the tech put in the voice of the coach rather than the past, but football remains the same, without imagination, colorless and dull.

Do we now have a fashion show in national football squad? Players arrive as if they were dummies and the head coach as an entrepreneur, as what we are?

Alex Silva is irritated at suggestion about 'fake proposal' and detonates Juvenal/Alex Silva se irrita com insinuação sobre 'falsa proposta' e detona

On Wednesday, the president told the Lance! That the player would have invented a proposal from Sporting, Portugal, and angered him, the player used Twitter to vent that news.

Central defender Alex Silva is not happy with the president of Sao Paulo, Juvenal Juvencio.

Alex Silva said he was a man of character who always respected the São Paulo FC, and explained that the news about a possible transfer to Sporting would have been conveyed in the Portuguese press after a candidate for election of the club have said they would hire if he won.

"Juvenal told the Lance! That I invented the proposal from Sporting Portugal? So the press is going crazy from Portugal. Not that I know I that I called the press there and it was not me who said that if the president (were) elected, hire me. Who said that I would hire if he won the election was now the elected president. Looking for obtaining information, Juvenal, and then talk, "fired the central back.

From that moment, Alex Silva started to refer directly to Juvenal Juvencio. The defender cited his departure from the club in 2008 as an example and said he would leave now, if he wanted, but assured the love Sao Paulo.

Alex Silva does not like it one bit of the interview Juvenal Juvencio to Lance!

"I've always been a player and man of character above all. If I wanted to leave São Paulo, would come without any problem and you do not want to talk to. I've always been honest with Sao Paulo, as in my output in 2008. I love São Paulo.

What did you say that I invented was baseless. I never needed and not need it. To make up this proposal is ridiculous. You see me always in the Barra Funda Center of Training, it was just called me to talk. The directors want to speak press and player never can. You have to listen and be quiet "he complained.

Finally, Alex Silva also said that so far not received any proposal to renew his contract with Sao Paulo. The player has ties to the Hamburg and is loaned to the team from São Paulo. By Lance! Juvenal guaranteed it would buy the centerback. Alex has ensured that this whole story made him even more motivated for the match this Wednesday against Goias in Goiania, at Cup of Brazil.

"You say you going to buy me, but so far I do not know how you are trading, no one called to tell me where she stands and how it is. And nobody on my team in Germany called me and not my management to spend any proposal Sao Paulo, "said Alex.

"There's agreement on the decision in the newspaper and see the President say that I made that proposal. That's what JJ has only motivated me to take the field today in the eyes with blood and honor the shirt as always honored," he added.

Controversial statement - By Lance! Juvenal Juvencio spoke up in jest when he commented over Alex Silva. The President assured that will buy the player and laughed after saying that he had invented the proposal. "I'll buy Alex. Of course I have a surprise, but count on it. This business of Sporting, he invented, he invents some things (laughs). I like him has the ability, leadership, is young. Belo Central Defender Back," he said.

How the Brazilian football/soccer sees to play and what is happening in amateur and incompetent administration we have. Only survive because we are a machine for manufacturing good players, otherwise we would not be even close to some European countries, which has our size and our population.

Ever think if Spain, Germany, Uruguay, Argentina and some others were the size of Brazil and had 200 million of natives? As would be 5 times World Champion…I don’t think so, believe-me.
