Na Ásia e na África, esta frase já foi repetida em dezenas de países. O inevitável funil das Eliminatórias – que transforma 203 seleções em apenas 31 – tirou 61 países do caminho para o Brasil. As duas eliminações mais relevantes deste primeiro ano de disputas vieram do continente asiático: China (sobretudo no aspecto econômico, já que deixa um dos maiores mercados do planeta longe do Mundial) e Coreia do Norte (a primeira baixa entre os países que estiveram na Copa de 2010).
A queda da China foi definida ontem na penúltima rodada da 2ª fase das Eliminatórias. A goleada por 4 a 0 em cima de Cingapura acabou sendo em vão. Horas depois, o Iraque – invicto sob o comando do brasileiro Zico – fez 3 a 2 sobre a Jordânia fora de casa e selou o destino dos chineses.
No grupo A, com uma rodada de antecipação, Iraque e Jordânia seguem para a 3ª fase. A Coreia do Norte – que enfrentou o Brasil na África do Sul – conseguiu sua principal vitória na temporada tarde demais. Ontem, os norte-coreanos venceram o forte Japão por 1 a 0. Mas as chances matemáticas de se classificar já eram nulas.
A seleção asiática com maior participação em Copas, a Coreia do Sul (presente em 8 mundiais) perdeu ontem a chance de garantir antecipadamente a classificação para a 3ª fase ao ser derrotada pelo Líbano por 2 a 1. Com isso, os coreanos precisam pelo menos de um empate diante do Kwait na última rodada, em Seul. A partida só será em fevereiro de 2012. Com quatro participações em Mundiais, a Arábia Saudita se complicou ontem ao empatar em 0 a 0 com Omã. Na rodada decisiva, os árabes precisam vencer a já classificada Austrália, em Sidney. Caso contrário, só seguirá em frente se não houve vencedor no duelo entre Omã e Tailândia.
África
As principais potências do continente só entram em campo em 2012. Assim, a primeira fase – encerrada ontem – funcionou como uma espécie de Pré-classificatório e eliminou 11 seleções. Apenas um país que já esteve em Mundiais precisou passar por essa seleção inicial. Togo, presente em 2010, sofreu para manter vivo o sonho de vir ao Brasil.
